After being educated in Paris, Christina Sheppard returned to England after World War II and became a freelance illustrator. She started making tiles in the early 1960s working in conjunction with Chelsea Pottery. She specialized in sgraffito work in glazes on commercial red bodied floor tiles. She stopped making tiles in the mid-1980s and returned to book illustration and landscape painting.
