Rosalind Ord was an art teacher at the Royal School for the Daughters of Officers at Bath where she met Sylvia Packard in 1929. The two of them painted a tile mural for the school and began to get commissions from parents and staff. Eventually they established a small busines as Packard and Ord in 1936, from which the modern company, Marlborough Tiles Ltd has emerged. Rosalind was an accomplished artist and designed many of the company's tiles and tile series. She continued to work in the business part time until her death in 1998 at the age of 91.
