Very little is known about Steele & Wood, established in Stoke in 1874. They seem to have made transfer printed dust-pressed tiles and unusually thin encaustic tiles for fireplace use rather than floors. They were suppliers to Barnard, Bishop and Barnards, ironfounders of Norwich who manufactured fireplaces in Arts and Crafts style. They seem to have gone out of business in about 1892.
